URBANA – Aldon H. Jensen, 93, of Urbana passed away at 11:37 a.m. Friday (May 20, 2016) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Aldon was born on Dec. 20, 1922, the youngest of 11 children of Chris and Mettina Jensen, in southwestern Iowa. He was married to Margaret McLaren Jensen on Aug. 28, 1948. She survives.

URBANA – Aldon H. Jensen, 93, of Urbana passed away at 11:37 a.m. Friday (May 20, 2016) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Aldon was born on Dec. 20, 1922, the youngest of 11 children of Chris and Mettina Jensen, in southwestern Iowa. He was married to Margaret McLaren Jensen on Aug. 28, 1948. She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Jenise (Mark) Page of Cypress, Calif., and Tena (Ward) Page of Reston, Va.; four grandchildren; a sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, seven brothers and son, Chris Jensen.

Aldon was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as a B-24 pilot in the 8th Air Force (392nd Bomb Group) stationed at Wendling, England.

After World War II, he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Illinois. He received his Ph.D. in animal science from Iowa State University.

He then came back to the UI and became a member of the faculty of the College of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science. He retired after 36 years on staff.

Aldon and his wife attended Stratford Park Bible Chapel where he was an elder for many years. In retirement, Aldon and his wife enjoyed traveling to see family and friends; he also was a member of the Urbana Exchange Club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stratford Park Bible Chapel, Champaign.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, P.O. Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.
