Barbara Jean Lemke, 90, of Gifford passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Country Health & Rehab in Gifford. She was born to Lola and George Young on February 29, 1928 in Seymour, IL. They precede her in death.
She married Edward Lemke on August 30, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death in September of 2001. Barbara and Edward raised three children, Jeff (Lisa) Lemke of St. Joseph, Lee (Dorothy) Lemke of Eustis, FL, and Deborah (Steven) Rittenhouse of Champaign. They all survive. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Tom Young, and sister, Martha Welch.
Barbara enjoyed sewing and doing crafts in her free time and was always known for her wonderful cooking. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00p.m. at Morgan Memorial Home, located at 1304 Regency Drive West in Savoy. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Mack will officiate. She will be laid to rest next her husband at Prairieview Cemetery in Savoy.
