URBANA – Doris (Taylor) Hausback, 89, died at her home in Urbana on Friday (Sept. 25, 2015) from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Doris was born on Oct. 10, 1925, to John H. and Mildred R. Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lived until moving to Urbana in 1961. She always considered herself a “city girl.”

Doris was totally dedicated to her nursing career, which spanned over five decades, and she especially enjoyed teaching at the former Burnham City Hospital School of Nursing.

She never met an animal she didn’t love, particularly her long line of companion dogs. She was an avid gardener and nature photographer who also had a lifelong passion for high heels and bling.

Doris’ first marriage to another Taylor (Donald L.) ended in divorce. Her marriage to Bernard Hausback ended much too soon with his death in 1987.

Doris leaves behind her daughter, Denise Taylor of Urbana; granddaughter, Cara Liberatore of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Cara’s dad, Joseph Liberatore of Chicago; stepdaughter, Teresa (John) Gray; stepgrandsons, Jordan Hammel, Dustin (Leah) Roney and their children, all of Washburn, Wis.

Denise sends a special thanks to the phenomenal caregivers Mom had near the end of her life: Camille, Amanda, Fontella, Tony, Pat and the Carle hospice team.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy, is handling arrangements (www.morganmemorialhome.com).
