Mahomet- Floyd Robert Doenitz 82, of Mahomet passed away on Sunday August 23, 2015 at 7:20 P.M. at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on January 15, 1933 to John G. and Florence Brewer Doenitz in Bloomington. He married Miyun Arwine on February 27, 1991 in Montego Bay, Jamacia.

Mahomet- Floyd Robert Doenitz 82, of Mahomet passed away on Sunday August 23, 2015 at 7:20 P.M. at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on January 15, 1933 to John G. and Florence Brewer Doenitz in Bloomington. He married Miyun Arwine on February 27, 1991 in Montego Bay, Jamacia.
Survivors include- his wife-Miyun of Mahomet, two sons- Chris (Shereth) Doenitz of Mahomet and Scott (Terri) Doenitz of Ft. Myers, Florida, one daughter- Cindy (Pat) Spears of Peoria, one stepdaughter- Haiti (Bob) Eastin of Tolono, one stepson- Mike (Kelly) Arwine of Chicago. Also surviving is one brother- Don (Sharon) Doenitz of Edmond, Oklahoma and 17 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother-Elmer and two sisters- Charlotte and Betty.
Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Sergeant with the 25th Division 27th regiment Wolfhounds during the Korean Conflict having served in Korea, Japan, and Hawaii. He also participated in the Land of Lincoln Honor flight to Washington, D.C. on October 28, 2014.
Floyd had farmed in the Mahomet and Mansfield area for 45 years.
Floyd was an avid collector of Minneapolis Moline tractors and he loved to travel and research the Doenitz family history.
He attended the Grace Baptist Church in Mahomet. He was also a member of the Champaign County Farm Bureau and also a member of the Mahomet American Legion post #1015. Floyd also served as Past Master of the Mahomet Masonic Lodge #220.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as someone who never meet a stranger and was friendly and outgoing, and loved to joke and laugh.
Visitation for Floyd will be held on Wednesday August 26th, 2015 from 5:00-to-8:00 P.M. at the Morgan Memorial Home 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy where there will also be a Masonic Service to be held on Wednesday at 7:45 P.M. Funeral Services for Floyd will be held on Thursday August 27th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. also at the Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy with pastor Paul Nurmi officiating. Entombment will take place at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
