Joanne (“Jo”) K. Radcliffe, 91, passed away in the presence of family on December 27, 2018. Jo was born January 12, 1927 in Springfield, IL. She attended Columbia College and then became a stewardess for TWA Airlines. In addition to raising three children, she also went on to become a Personnel Officer at First National Bank in Champaign. She later took over as President of Sangamon County Abstract Company in Springfield, IL until her retirement.

Illini sports played a huge part in Jo’s life. She was President of the University of Illinois Quarterback Club and was very involved with Illinois Basketball Rebounder’s Club and the Illinois Baseball Dugout Club. Her love of Illini sports was evident in her favorite apparel colors of orange and blue. She loved going to U of I basketball, baseball, football, and volleyball games with friends and families and was an active contributor to the University. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for 69 years, and active in Chapter AR, Champaign, IL.

Another important aspect of Joanne’s life was her faith and relationship with the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign. She was an active member of the church and Joanne’s faith in God was the power behind her commitment to CASA. As a volunteer with CASA she changed the lives of many children by providing love, support, and in helping them find safe and permanent housing situations. Her love of the children was evident in the hours she gave to seeing that each child she worked with had a true advocate.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Radcliffe and brother-in-law George L. Daigh. She is survived by her sister Nancy J. Daigh and three children, Bob Zebe (Teresa) of Tolono, Kim Johnson of Virginia, Beth Munson (Barry) of North Carolina; Grandchildren Zebo Zebe (Lexie), Andy Johnson (Hanna), Maggie Johnson, Pam Dalton (Frank), Kelly Sneed (Brian), Shannon Osbourne (Tad), Greg Munson (Kelly), Brittany Munson; eight great-grandchildren; nieces Debbie Hamby (Mark), Cyndi Moore (Bill), nephew Steve Daigh (Kathryn) and their families; and stepson Scott Radcliffe and stepdaughter Ann Wood and their families.
Joanne will be truly missed by her family, friends, and the countless people she impacted in her time on this earth. Her courage, passion, and love for others was evident in every aspect of her life and she will always be remembered for the tremendous life she lived.
