SAVOY – Martha T. Hixson passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday (May 21, 2016) at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1925, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Swider Hallahan. Martha married Ormond Hixson on Sept. 1, 1943, at Fort Meade, Md.; he preceded her in death on June 23, 1999.

SAVOY – Martha T. Hixson passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday (May 21, 2016) at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1925, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Swider Hallahan. Martha married Ormond Hixson on Sept. 1, 1943, at Fort Meade, Md.; he preceded her in death on June 23, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanie (Robert) Wolf of Dunnellon, Fla., and Marcia (Dale) Durrent of Corpus Christi, Texas; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Martha was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, the Ladies Red Hatters and the Ladies of the Elks. She was so proud to be named “Lady Elk” in 1997 and considered the members of Lodge 2497 her extended family. She loved playing bridge and was a loyal Illini fan.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church or the Elks Crippled Children Fund.
