Wednesday November 25, 2015 at 10:22 P.M. at her home after a Champaign- Wilma A. Barnhart 83, of Champaign passed away on Wednesday November 25, 2015 at 10:22 P.M. at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 4, 1932 in Ingraham to Alonzo and Mabel Birch Fitzgerald. She married Ted Barnhart on January 31, 1952 in Champaign and he survives.
Also surviving are one son- Randy of Champaign and one daughter- Lori also of Champaign, 3- grandchildren and 6-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-Bud, and one Son-Steven.
She attended Champaign Central High School for 3 years and 1 year at Unity. After graduation she attended Barry Castle School of Business where she learned shorthand and business administration and these things served her well over many years. She worked for many years as a secretary starting with the City of Champaign followed by employment at the U of I . She was employed at the Assembly Hall, athletic department as a secretary for the Basketball and Baseball Coaches, and at WILL radio station. She worked between being a wife and mother. After her family was raised she worked for Herburger, Robesons and Sears as a sales person. She belonged to AARP, Home Extension and was active in church as a secretary to the Board, Steward, and Sunday school teacher. Wilma enjoyed camping, shopping, and being involved in her children’s activities as they grew up.
Visitation for Wilma will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 from 5:00-to- 7:00 P.M. at the Morgan Memorial Home 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. also at the Morgan Memorial Home with the Pastor David Ashby officiating. Interment will take place at the Bailey Cemetery, Tolono.
Memorials should be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Native American Ministries.
