Max Elmer Reid, 92, died Sunday morning, May 5 at Meadowbrook.

Max Elmer Reid, 92, died Sunday morning, May 5 at Meadowbrook.
Mr. Reid is survived by his wife of 70 years, Faye (Nicholas) Reid, one son-in-law: Dennis Moore, 6 grandchildren: Alicia (Brian Olms) Walters, Adam (Rebecca) Moore, Stacy Morris, Melissa Dolbert, Summer Moore and Carter Newnam. He also leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren: Hailey, Kylie, Maddie, Jack, Reid, Shelby and Alex.
Max is a Veteran of World War II where he served from 1944-1946 in the Navy as a Radarman aboard the USS San Francisco in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.
He grew up in Roseville, Illinois and was the son of Freeman and Helen Reid. Max graduated from Monmouth College in 1950 with a degree in physical education. While attending Monmouth, he played football and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
He worked for Aetna Insurance Company and Eisner-Murphy Insurance Agency in Champaign until he opened Max Reid Insurance Agency in Champaign and Deland.
Max enjoyed fishing, hunting, ballroom dancing and coin collecting. He also volunteered as an usher at the University of Illinois Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium watching his beloved Illini. Max was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Champaign.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kyle; daughter, Deborah and daughter-in-law, Ginger.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 10 at 10 AM with the funeral immediately following at 11 AM at Morgan Memorial Homes in Savoy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Champaign or the Champaign County Humane Society.
