Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Gilles) Pellum, age 96, of Champaign died at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana.

Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Gilles) Pellum, age 96, of Champaign died at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pesotum. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pesotum.
Betty was born March 25, 1923 at the family farm in Pesotum, daughter of George and Cecilia Reinhart Gilles. She married William W. (Bill) Pellum on August 20, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pesotum. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2002.
Betty is survived by her sons, George (Lisa) Pellum and Daniel (Gayla) Pellum, daughter-in-law Sibyl Pellum; her grandsons, Jim (Christine) Pellum, Joe Pellum, Joshua Pellum, Casey (Deanna) Pellum, Andrew (Danielle) Pellum, John (Carolyn) Pellum, Matt Pellum and Josh (Nil) Buckley; her great-grandchildren, Charlie and Nora Pellum, Annika and Nadia Pellum, Isabel, Sophia and Kinleigh Pellum, Jonas and Tannis Pellum, Ruby and Olivia Pellum and Braeden, Ethan, Kellan and Kiera Buckley; her sister, Rosemarie Richardson and brother, John (Connie) Gilles, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, William L. Pellum and Kevin Pellum, daughter-in-law, Susan Pellum and one brother, William G. Gilles.
Betty graduated from Villa Grove High School and Illinois Commercial College. She worked at Fannigan & Pearson Publishing Company, Champaign and John Parker Advertising, Rantoul.
Betty was a life member of the Amvets Auxiliary. She was active in local, state and national organizations.
Betty was a member of Holy Cross Church in Champaign.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Catholic School.
