Helen Pauline Mitchell, 99, of Savoy, formerly of Urbana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 8:08 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Champaign, 1602 S. Prospect Ave, Savoy.  Rev. Dr. Randy Gauger and Rev. Dick Smith will officiate.  Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Champaign.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Vandalia, a daughter of Fred and Anna Woolsey.  She was united in marriage to Charles M. Mitchell November 18, 1950 in the First Baptist Church, Vandalia.

She is survived by her children, Max Mitchell (Betsy) and Charlene Carlier (Mike); two grandchildren, Erin Favot (Tom) and Andrew Mitchell; two great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Juliana Favot; one brother, Herbert Woolsey (Mary) of Vandalia and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles on January 31, 1992; her parents; brothers Harold, Herman, Raymond, Gerald and an infant brother; sister Arline Varady.

Her pleasure in life was her family.  She was room mother for both children, co-leader in Cub Scouts and assistant leader in Brownies.

After graduating from Vandalia High School, she attended Paul Brown Business College in St. Louis and attended the University of Illinois.  She was employed as an accountant at the Illinois State Farm, Vandalia and retired from the State Geological Survey financial office, Urbana as accountant in 1982 after having been employed there for 20 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Champaign, Savoy.

She was a member of Alliance Chapter Daughters of American Revolution, CU Welcome Club, The Illinois Club, The Guild, University Club, Saint Matthews and Elks Bridge and bridge with long time friends.

She will be remembered and missed by her precious family and friends.  Her greatest love was her Jesus and her family.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Champaign, Savoy or to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy is handling arrangements.
